Life Lately: Calabar Living

"A strong positive self-image is the best possible preparation for successes. "

Hi guys,

How y'all doing?  I hope you're having a great week so far. Mine has been hectic like you wouldn't believe. I've been doing all I can to make sure the school system doesn't screw me again and at the same time making the most of my stay in Canaan city i.e calabar.

Being here has been so much fun. I have gotten the chance to reconnect with friends, make new friends and actually see calabar. I have visited a couple of times but never had the chance to actually explore the city, which is a shame because it is indeed the hub of fun. So many interesting places to visit. So many good food... Oh my tummy rumbles everytime I think of that.

So far, I have been to Marina, Spar, and I have visited the famous Watt market which is extensive and too crowded for my taste but I was amazed at how affordable things are. I got some beautiful pair of jeans and I must say there are hella fine. I have also treated myself to some sugary delights. My sweet tooth and I been having the best of Calabar.

Next up on my tour list is the Beach market. I'm excited to see what I can buy from there and how it'll look even. So far the only thing I hate about calabar is the public transport system. I mean really, four people in the back seat of a tiny car? How is that suppose to work at all? I fear I might loose a kidney before I return home.  Plus they are no direct stops which is frustrating as hell. You have to keep switching cabs before you get to your destination. It is saddening but at least I'm getting to know the city a lot better.

And then there is the Marina Resort Calabar and Calabar Museum which I'm told houses incredible relics of the ancient settlers, their colonial masters and the history and evidence of slavery in the region. I am overly excited just by talking about it alone. Visiting such a place will be like taking a walk through history. Already making plans to visit and I can't wait to write all about it.

Well that's all I have for today guys. Life is tough but we'll always try to make the most of it. Have a great rest of the week.
